How French table tennis points (FFTT) are calculated

In France every licensed player has a points total — the “points classement” — published by the Fédération Française de Tennis de Table (FFTT). Each match against another classed player moves it by an amount from a fixed grid, multiplied by the competition’s coefficient.

The points grid

The gap between the two players’ points selects a row. A win over a player with as many points or fewer is normal, and so is a loss to a player with as many points or more; the other way round is an upset (“anormal”) and moves far more.

Competition coefficients

The grid is multiplied by the competition’s coefficient: 0.5 for the smallest events, 1 for the team championship, up to 2 for the senior French Championships and Pro A/B.

Fractions and rounding

Points are exchanged with their fractions. Only the total shown on the licence is rounded — to the nearest whole number, with a half going up.

Grid and coefficients follow the FFTT’s “Règlements généraux” (July 2025 edition), articles IV.203 to IV.211. Every number on this page is computed with the same rules as the calculator in the app; the official points are the ones the FFTT publishes.
